Greetings:
Hello to one and all on the Tom Irwin email list!
I'm playing this Friday, Sept 26 from 7 to 9 pm at Dr. Ugs Drugstore
Cafe (217-452-3442) a very cool coffeehouse/bar/restaurant on the square in
Virginia, Illinois, the Cass County seat about 30 miles west of Springfield
on Route 125 (straight out Jefferson St).
We're also hosting a benefit for Pound Dog Rescue, so come in support of
this fine organization and hear some music too.
My favorite Dr. Ugs story, as related to me by Susan the owner, is of the
local elderly gentleman who upon entering and ordering a cup of coffee,
asked for his free "wiffy" as stated on the sign in the front of the store.
I'm not sure how disappointed he was to discover you need a laptop computer
to experience the "free Wi-Fi," but I am sure he learned something about
this modern world.
Dr. Ugs is a great place, with wonderful food, drinks, & proprietor plus
an all around good vibe--perhaps it's because they're giving away the Wifi!
Hope to see you there,
Tom
Also, two for the calendar--Elvis Himselvis at the beautiful Brewhaus in
lovely downtown Springfield on Halloween (Rick already has his costume
picked out) and a Tom Irwin and the Hired Hands reunion (it's been THAT
long) on Nov. 14 at Bar None, a new spot on the corner of Fifth & Monroe.
This includes Dooley, Raoul, Stingray, & Reggie as the Original, Notorious
Hired Hands. Hoping to have DVD's of our 2001 Willie Nelson opening at the
State Fair for sale. I know I'm a little slow, but better late than....
